When today got up to 80 degrees I knew I had to break out the maxi dresses! These two dresses, the first by Leifsdottir and the second by Maeve, have really beautiful floral detailing. Sometimes I shy away from floral print because it can be little-girlish, but these two dresses seem more sophisticated to me. They also compliment my skin tone nicely, but I can definitely see the second dress looking good with a nice golden tan. My shoes are Franco Sarto. Hope everyone had a great President's Day. It was really nice to spend some time with my fiancé (just got engaged!) and our friends celebrating. We went to this great outdoor restaurant called Contigo and our server gifted us a chocolate cake for the occasion!
Congratulations on your engagement!! I was going to stop through to say how gorgeous you, your dresses, and your photography are, and then spotted the bit about your new fiance! Woo hoo!

I ordered my normal size. It is a bit "billowy." The length was a good fit for me. I'm 5'5 and got XS.

ReplyDeleteThe two fit very differently on me. The Maeve dress is much thinner and has more flow, while the Leifsdottir is heavier and form fitting. The Maeve dress fits me better in terms of length, and the Leifsdottir would be too long for me to wear with flats. I have considered altering it. I tried the petite version but the waist was too short for me. The Leifsdotter is also a bit loose for my waste, which is not uncomfortable, but it would look more polished if it were more fitted. If it were a choice I would buy the Maeve to wear more often for a casual day look, and go for the Leifsdottir if I were going to wear it for special occasions.
DeleteThanks so much, this is so helpful! I did get to try the Mural Maxi dress in the store, I cant understand the iffy reviews because I found it very pretty and it fit well. The colors appear to be brighter then the Leifsdottir dress and its less $$.

I really liked the Mural Maxi when I tried it on! I was also surprised by the price difference. The only complaint I had was that it didn't fit tightly enough around my waist so it made me look a little larger. Yes the Maeve is definitely a cheerful color that compliments blonde hair.
Deleteyeah I noticed that about the Mural Maxi too, but it has the ties in the back that cinched the waist in better. oh what to do. I don't have a single maxi dress and I want to get one, *sigh* ;o)
